Blog Introduction
After years of academic study a decade ago and further self-studying of academic social topics since then, I find myself totally unable to talk to people who don’t have significant working knowledge in the topics of gender, race, or inequality. As you can tell by that convoluted first sentence … yeah, my writing is a problem so it’s no wonder I can’t speak confidently and constructively. I don't want to just know the truth and be right; I want to be an effective communicator. So, here I am. I’m going to start a very rigorous (haha) writing program for myself to get into the habit of writing, and then thinking, and then editing.
For now, I
plan to use TOK Exhibition Prompts for a weekly writing assignment. I will
write on Mondays after I read, then I will think about my post throughout the
week. Hopefully, I will read it a few more times throughout the week, but on
Sunday, I will make my final edits, then start again on Monday with the next
prompt. I’m also not picking the prompts but just going at them in order. There
are 35, so this may take me just over a year, or I will hopefully find my voice
and confidence along the way to write about the things that are really on my
mind.
